This scholarship is offered through a partnership between the Rotary Foundation and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. It aims to support professionals in the water and sanitation sector from around the world to pursue a Master’s degree in Water and Sustainable Development. The program focuses on preparing participants to address global water challenges by developing their expertise in areas such as water resource management, water health, and climate-related issues. Additionally, the scholarship seeks to build long-term relationships between participants and the global Rotary network to enhance their impact in their home communities after graduation.

  • Duration: Approximately 18 months (Master’s program)
  • Location: Delft, Netherlands
  • Funding: Fully or partially funded scholarship (approximately $34,000–$60,000 depending on the case)
  • Coverage includes: Tuition fees, travel costs, insurance, and living expenses
  • Application fees: No direct application fee for the scholarship
  • Application process:
  • First apply and obtain admission to the Master’s program
  • Contact a local Rotary club to secure a nomination
  • Submit the application through the Rotary club to the Rotary committee in the Netherlands
  • Language requirement: English (proof required such as IELTS/TOEFL)


Eligibility Criteria


  • Must obtain academic admission to the MSc in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft
  • Must be a professional working in the water or sanitation sector
  • Strong academic background
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and community impact
  • Must obtain nomination from a local Rotary club
  • Commitment to return to home country after graduation
  • Employees of Rotary or their immediate relatives are not eligible
