The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center – Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) announces a job opportunity for the position of Research Assistant in the Breeding and Seed Production Section under the Research Division. The role aims to support research activities related to aquaculture and the breeding of marine organisms. The selected candidate will assist in conducting scientific experiments involving zooplankton, marine fish larvae, and other aquatic organisms. The research assistant will provide technical and operational support to researchers, contribute to data collection and analysis, and assist in setting up experiments and maintaining research facilities. The role also includes supporting station operations and managing equipment and materials used in research projects.

  • Nature of Work: Technical and research support in experiments related to aquaculture and marine organisms.
  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist in conducting experiments involving zooplankton and marine fish larvae.
  • Prepare experimental setups and support breeding and aquaculture activities.
  • Collect samples and monitor water and soil quality.
  • Perform laboratory analyses and collect research data.
  • Assist in statistical analysis and data compilation.
  • Support research station maintenance and manage inventory and procurement of supplies.
  • Supervise research aides when necessary.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in aquaculture or fisheries (an advantage).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant computer applications.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Initiative, teamwork ability, and strong work ethics.
