A postgraduate scholarship at the University of Edinburgh aimed at outstanding young Africans who have faced significant barriers to education, have a strong record of leadership and community service, and aspire to make an impact in addressing the climate crisis. The scholarship is available for on-campus study in Edinburgh or online study, depending on the eligible programs.

  • Study: One-year on-campus master’s degree or part-time online postgraduate programs.
  • Applicants must choose only one pathway: on-campus or online.
  • Applicants must first apply for the scholarship, not the academic program.
  • Attendance at a mandatory virtual information session is required to receive an invitation to apply.
  • Applicants must have their bachelor’s degree and official final transcript by 19 November 2026.
  • The program is taught entirely in English.
  • An English language test is not required when applying for the scholarship, but it may be required later as part of admission to the University of Edinburgh.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a citizen and resident of an African country, or hold refugee status in an African country.
  • Be 35 years old or younger at the start of the program; for the 2027/2028 intake.
  • Hold a recognized university degree with an academic level that qualifies the applicant for admission to the University of Edinburgh.
  • Have experienced significant barriers to education or at the beginning of their professional career.
  • Demonstrate a strong record of leadership and community service.
  • Have experience or strong aspirations to make a meaningful impact in addressing the climate crisis.
  • Master’s applicants must not already hold a postgraduate degree.
