The African Youth Energy Leaders Fellowship is a six-month professional development program designed for young professionals at the early stages of their careers from African countries. Its goal is to prepare a new generation of leaders who can contribute to Africa's clean-energy transition and address challenges related to energy access.

Participants receive specialized training in one of four renewable-energy tracks: solar photovoltaic, onshore wind, bioenergy, or hydropower. The program combines expert-led training, real-world case studies, individual mentorship, a one-month practical placement with a partner organization, and a final applied project addressing a real local energy-access challenge. Participants also take part in a virtual summit that connects fellows with mentors and energy-sector leaders.

The fellowship is implemented through the Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute (RETTI), through RETTI Virtual University, in partnership with government institutions, academic organizations, and private-sector companies working across Africa's energy value chain.
