The Chevening Scholarship is the UK Government’s international scholarship programme for talented and emerging leaders from around the world. It provides fully funded opportunities to study a one-year master’s degree at a UK university.


The programme is aimed at individuals who demonstrate leadership potential, strong professional experience, and a clear vision for their future.

Details

Duration: One year to complete a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

Funding: Fully funded scholarship covering tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel costs, and other financial benefits according to the scholarship conditions.

Tuition fees: The scholarship covers the tuition fees of the eligible programme.

Monthly stipend: Scholars receive a monthly living allowance to help cover accommodation, food, personal expenses, transportation, and essential study-related costs. The amount varies depending on whether the student studies in London or outside London.

Travel: The scholarship covers economy-class travel to and from the beneficiary’s country of residence, according to an approved route.

Arrival allowance: An allowance is provided to help cover initial expenses upon arrival in the UK.

Departure allowance: An allowance is provided at the end of the scholarship to help cover return and baggage-related costs.

Visa: The scholarship covers the cost of the UK visa application.

Tuberculosis test: The scholarship may contribute up to £75 towards a tuberculosis test when required.

Travel and events: An additional travel allowance may be available for attending Chevening events, subject to eligibility and programme conditions.

Study programmes: Applicants must select three eligible and different master’s programmes at UK universities as part of their Chevening application.

University offer: Applicants must obtain an unconditional offer from at least one of their three selected master’s programmes before the deadline specified in the application timeline.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a citizen of a country or territory eligible for Chevening.
  • Return to your country of citizenship for at least two years after the scholarship ends.
  • Have at least 2,800 hours of work experience.
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree that enables you to gain admission to a UK postgraduate programme.
  • Apply to three different eligible UK master’s programmes.
  • Obtain an unconditional offer from at least one of the selected programmes by the required deadline.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential.
  • Demonstrate networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Show a clear career plan and future goals.
  • Explain how studying in the UK will contribute to your professional and personal development.
  • Demonstrate how you intend to create positive change in your country after returning.
  • There is no upper age limit for Chevening applicants.
  • Meet the specific nationality, employment, residence and other conditions established by Chevening.
