The Youth Climate & Peace Fellowship is an intensive capacity-building programme designed to empower young leaders from conflict- and war-affected countries. The fellowship equips participants with the technical knowledge and terminology in both Arabic and English needed to engage effectively in global climate diplomacy and international climate negotiations, including climate conference simulations. The programme aims to prepare a new generation of youth leaders capable of contributing to climate and peace initiatives while connecting them with international youth climate networks.

  • The programme is designed to build the capacities of young leaders from conflict-affected countries.
  • Training is delivered in both Arabic and English.
  • The fellowship covers the following topics:
  • The climate–peace–security nexus.
  • The structure of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
  • International environmental agreements, including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
  • National climate strategies.
  • Negotiation skills and climate policy drafting.
  • Engagement with global youth climate networks, including YOUNGO and GYBN.
  • Programme timeline:
  • Application period: 15 July – 30 July.
  • Programme Kick-off: 6 August.
  • First in-person training session: 6 September.
  • At the end of the fellowship, one outstanding young participant will receive funded participation to attend COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.
  • Applicants are required to complete the application form accurately to ensure proper review of their application.

  • Applicants should be from one of the countries affected by war and conflict.
  • Applicants should be young people interested in climate action and peacebuilding.
  • Applicants must be available to participate in all stages of the fellowship programme.
  • All required information in the application form must be completed accurately.
