The New Roots Institute Fellowship is a fully funded virtual program designed for high school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students who are interested in leadership, social change, and advocacy—particularly in the areas of food systems, industrial agriculture, and food justice.

The program begins with a six-week virtual Leadership Academy, where participants gain foundational skills in ethical leadership, advocacy, effective communication, and strategic planning. After completing this phase, selected participants continue into the Academic Year Fellowship, where they design and implement real advocacy campaigns within their universities or local communities. Fellows receive one-on-one mentorship and practical support to transform their ideas into impactful initiatives.
