The Global AgriInno Challenge 2026 is an international innovation competition organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with Zhejiang University and Pinduoduo. The program aims to identify and support startups, innovators, and agripreneurs developing innovative technological solutions that enhance the sustainability of agrifood systems.The 2026 edition focuses on addressing challenges faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS), including climate change, food insecurity, limited agricultural infrastructure, and geographic isolation.
The challenge seeks scalable digital and technological solutions that improve agricultural production, nutrition, environmental sustainability, and rural livelihoods.
- Applicants must be startups or legally registered entities.
- The company must be less than five years old.
- Annual revenue must not exceed USD 1 million.
- Applicants must have a technology solution or business model at an advanced stage (TRL 7–9) with a validated or implemented prototype.
- At least one team leader must be under the age of 35.
- Applicants must commit to participating in all stages of the program.
- The proposed solution must address agrifood system challenges in Small Island Developing States or have been previously implemented in such contexts.
- Women-led teams and teams with female entrepreneurs are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Teams from outside Small Island Developing States are also eligible to participate.
