The Global South Fellowship Programme, offered by the University of Birmingham in collaboration with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is designed to support early-career researchers from universities in the Global South.
The programme enables visiting fellows to gain experience in research practice, academic training, and institutional administration at both universities located in Birmingham and Urbana-Champaign.
It also aims to strengthen international research collaboration, partnership development, and long-term academic cooperation, particularly with institutions in the Global South. Priority research themes include education access and equity, global health, sustainability, and climate action, with some flexibility in related fields.
