Climate Voices is a six-month regional initiative designed to empower a new generation of Arabic-speaking climate content creators across the Mediterranean region. The program integrates climate education, digital media skills, and communication ethics to address a critical gap: the shortage of professional, responsible, and engaging Arabic-language climate content.

The program targets media students, young journalists, digital content creators, and youth civil society activists, equipping them with intensive practical training that enables them to translate complex climate science into simplified, engaging, and ethically responsible digital content tailored to local cultural contexts.

Climate Voices is implemented in partnership between Climatic Peace and Foras Khadra, in collaboration with local youth-led organizations in the participating countries. The initiative concludes with a regional summit hosted in Egypt, where selected participants will contribute to launching a regional “Manifesto for Ethical Climate Communication in Arabic Media,” establishing a shared framework for responsible climate storytelling across the region.

Details
  • The program runs from January to June 2026 for a full duration of six months.
  • It consists of four main phases: preparation and partnership building, implementation of national climate communication camps in each participating country, launch of a unified regional digital campaign, and a final regional summit hosted in Egypt.
  • Each national camp lasts five intensive training days and includes interactive workshops, practical exercises, and mini media labs.
  • The regional digital campaign runs for one full month and focuses on publishing unified Arabic climate content under a shared visual identity.
  • The final regional summit lasts three days and brings together representatives from all participating countries to exchange experiences and co-develop the regional manifesto.
  • The program is delivered in person during the national camps in each country, while the regional campaign is conducted online through digital platforms, and the final summit is held in person in Egypt.
  • The program does not provide direct individual financial grants to all participants; however, it covers the organizational costs of the national camps and provides logistical support for selected participants attending the regional summit, including hospitality and event arrangements.
  • There are no participation fees mentioned for the program.
  • The application process will be opened in each country in coordination with local partners, based on clearly defined selection criteria.
  • The primary language of the program is Arabic, with limited use of English in certain materials and in the bilingual publication of the final manifesto.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicants must be from one of the nine participating countries: Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, or Tunisia.
  • The program targets young people aged 18 to 30 years old.
  • Eligible participants include media and communication students, early-career journalists, active digital content creators on social media platforms, and members of youth-led organizations working in sustainability or civic engagement.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in climate change and sustainability, as well as a strong motivation to develop their climate communication skills in Arabic.
  • Participants are required to commit to attending the full duration of the national camp and actively participating in the regional digital campaign.
  • Previous experience in digital content creation or media-related activities is preferred but not mandatory.
  • The selection process will ensure gender balance, geographic diversity, and the inclusion of youth from rural areas or underrepresented communities with limited access to media training opportunities.
Opportunity Benefits
  • Participants receive specialized training that combines simplified climate knowledge, digital storytelling skills, and media ethics, delivered by regional experts in climate and media communication.
  • They develop practical skills in short-form video production, infographic design, digital campaign management, fact-checking, and combating climate misinformation across social media platforms.
  • Participants gain visibility by publishing their content as part of a unified regional digital campaign aiming to reach over 500,000 users across multiple platforms.
  • Between two to six participants from each country will be selected to attend the Regional Summit in Egypt based on performance, commitment, and the quality of the content produced during the program.
  • Selected participants will receive full funding to attend the Regional Summit, including round-trip international airfare, hotel accommodation for the entire duration of the summit, full meal coverage, and comprehensive logistical support.
  • The summit offers an exclusive opportunity to network with media professionals, climate experts, regional institutions, youth organizations, and fellow climate communicators from across the Mediterranean region.
  • Participants will contribute to drafting and launching the “Manifesto for Ethical Climate Communication in Arabic Media,” published in both Arabic and English, positioning them as co-authors of a foundational regional framework.
  • All participants become members of a long-term Mediterranean Climate Media Network, opening doors to future collaborations, joint initiatives, and continued regional visibility.
